Advice for future festival attendees…

General Tips

  • When packing, make sure to bring COMFORTABLE WALKING SHOES- You are going to want maybe 2 pairs, one you would wear sight seeing, and another to wear to the festival.

    • Extra Pro Tip: Bring no-show socks and bandaids to make sure you cover all your bases.

  • PACK LIGHTLY- As an over packer myself, I brought 2 full suitcases of clothing and shoes and only wore about half of the items I brought. I would bring an outfit for every pre festival day (light clothing because it is hotttt in France), and maybe one or two extra festival outfits.

  • BRING EUROS- I brought some little change of Euros on my trip which was super helpful for the little stores, and the group trip on the catamaran.

Festival Tips

  • If you recognize the name of the speaker, it will probably get full 30 minutes before.

    • Depending on which theatre the talk is in, and how famous the speaker is, the talks will fill up quickly. If this talk is one of your priorities for the day, sometimes it’s worth it to watch the talk before to reserve your seat for the next talk.

  • BRING A FAN- I brought both a hand fan and a chargeable fan in my festival bag everyday, and they definitely got used while walking around the festival.

  • SMILE- Walk around with a smile on your face to seem approachable, you never know who can walk up to you just for a chat!

    • At the end of any professional conversation, ask for their LinkedIn and send a message thanking them for stopping to talk to you (I liked to add specifically where we met to jog their memory.)

  • ATTEND A WORKSHOP- The workshops are one of the only times you will be able to put your previous PR and advertising knowledge to use, take advantage of that! They are super fun and a good brain break from hearing other people talk at you.
